Attending an in-home salon concert

Picture
Since most of our concerts are in private homes, we depend on accurate RSVPs.  A few weeks before the concert, eventbrite links will be made available here on our website.  The exact address to the host's home will be included in the confirmation email sent to those who reserve their spot.

There are no ticket fees; our concerts are funded by generous audience donations.  At the concert, you may donate by cash, check, Paypal, Zelle, or Venmo.  You can find out more about what donations are used for and how to donate online here.  Thank you for your support!
Never attended a salon (in-home) concert?  You’re in for a treat! Listening to live music in a home is completely different than in a big concert hall.  Up close and personal you can see, hear, and feel more than you do with things like a stage, sound systems, or distance between you and the performers.  This is our favorite setting to perform in, because having the audience so close means the listeners become a bigger part of the musical experience. A few questions we’re frequently asked:

How much does it cost?
There is no ticket price to attend our salon concerts; we're funded through generous audience donations.  After the concert, guests can donate by cash, check, Paypal, Zelle, or Venmo. You can learn all about how those donations are used  and donate anytime here on our site.

How long will it last?
The music portion of the evening lasts about an hour, and guests are welcome to chat and enjoy refreshments for another 30-60 minutes afterwards.

What if I don’t know the concert hosts?  Is it weird for me to show up at their home when we don’t know each other?
No worries.  The audience is made up of both friends of the host and Salonnières’ community.  There will be lots of people like you who are meeting the host for the first time and a mix of people who have and haven’t been to one of our salon concerts before.  Come on in, introduce yourself to the hosts and other guests, and enjoy the show!

Should I come early?
It’s fine to arrive up to a half an hour before the concert starts, unless noted otherwise.  Just give yourself a little time to park in the neighborhood, say hello to a few people, find a seat, and enjoy the pre-concert music.

Can I bring my kids and teens?
Most of our guests are adults, but we love seeing kids and teens at our concerts, too!  If your child is old enough to enjoy an hour long concert, we welcome them.  You know your child best; we've waited until our kids were about 8 or 9 before bringing them to salon concerts.

What’s the dress code?
The performers dress up pretty fancy, but that’s not expected of the audience.  Guests have attended in everything from jeans and sandals to nice dresses and suit jackets.  We want you to feel comfortable! We generally advise our husbands to come dressed a click or two above jeans, but sometimes they don’t listen to us, and everything’s totally fine.

So, exactly what kind of music am I going to hear?
We’re classically trained, and that’s the foundation of what we do.  But we also integrate folk, sacred, musical theater, pop, and other genres into our programs.  The important thing to know is that each concert has a theme. All the music we play, regardless of genre, will be connected to each other as we explore that theme.
